Parliamentary inquiry into asbestos riddled schools

Following the efforts of our Airtight on Asbestos campaign, the Work and Pensions Select Committee has agreed to launch its own investigation into the way that asbestos is managed in the UK, and the failure to replace asbestos riddled schools.


W&P Select Committee Chair, Stephen Timms, has confirmed the plans to go ahead with the inquiry later in the year "[...] to help make sure regulations are as effective and safe as possible.” Stephen Timms added that “Questions are being raised about how asbestos is dealt with in the UK, particularly compared with some other countries such as France. "
